If the assault has happened in the last 7 days we will inform you of your choice to have a forensic examination. This is so we can gather any DNA evidence to either support the investigation or to store it, if at the time you are not choosing to report. You will be supported by a crisis worker and forensic nurse all the time you are at Hope House SARC.

If the assault has happened in the last 7 days we will explain the forensic medical examination and discuss your choices. An examination is to gather or document evidence.

This may be as swabs for DNA, blood or urine samples, clothing, as well as noting any injuries, if present. Evidence collection is used to assist in an investigation of a crime; or it can be taken and stored (for a limited time), if you are uncertain about reporting the incident to the police.

You will be supported by a crisis worker and forensic nurse or doctor all the time you are at Hope House SARC.
